How do Magic Bands work at Disney? And what are they?
Just like their name says it… they work like “magic”. Once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, these bands become your EVERYTHING! You will be able to use them to open your room at the Resort, enter the parks, use your dining credits, load Memory Maker pictures and even charge purchases to your room.
How do I get one?
Before your arrival at your Disney Resort, you will be invited to place an order. The cost associated with them varies between US$10.00 and US$35, plus tax. If you live outside of the United States, your magic bands will be waiting for you at your Disney Resort. If you live within the US, they will arrive at your home 2-3 weeks before your trip starts. In the same box, you will receive luggage tags(Which I recommend using as ID Tags for your backpack and/or purse), a Magical Extras discount card for some stores within Walt Disney World Resort, and coupons for a game of Mini Golf at one of the courses within the WDW Resort.
Do I have to activate my Magic Bands?
No, Magic Bands that are shipped to your house or the Resort are ready to go. If you personalized them in My Disney Experience they will have the color/design you chose and your name engraved on the back.
PIN Number.
When you check-in at the Resort, you will be able to choose a PIN Number associated with your account. If you have added a dining plan to your reservation, this will also allow you to use your dining credits and make purchases. You will be able to make charges to your room account at any Disney Store and restaurant within Walt Disney World property, as well as Disney Springs. If you need to reset the PIN Number, you will be able to do it through the app.
What happens if I lose my Magic Band?
Don´t panic! You are able to deactivate the Magic Band through the app. Right after that, I suggest you head over to Guest Services at the parks or the front desk at your Resort. They will be able to issue a “Key to the World” card and ensure that the original one is deactivated. Visiting Guest Services right away will ensure you don´t have any issues using Genie+.
